Dear College of Engineering colleagues,

I hope you all are enjoying the energy of having students back on campus. Part of the work of the Office of Inclusive Excellence is ensuring that staff and faculty have access to DEI tools, resources and training.

As you are settling into the new year, I wanted to share some new DEI resources for College staff and faculty.

• New incident reporting tool – The College of Engineering now has its own incident reporting tool! All students, staff and faculty can submit encounters of bias, discrimination or harassment directly to the College of Engineering. Reports will be followed up by trained advocates who can assist with collecting information and advise on possible next steps. Learn more or file a report here.
  
  
• WE Rise re-brand – “WiSE” has relaunched as “WE Rise” and now invites womxn and non-binary students to join its community. 
  
  
• Online DEI workshop (Wednesday, Oct. 26, 1-2pm) – Corey Clay is hosting an online DEI workshop, “Rise of the L7’s – Black Masculinity and its Proximity to Violence.” Learn more and join the event here.
  
  
• Self-care in the Face of Burnout, Crisis, and Trauma – This live workshop for staff and faculty uses Laura van Dernoot Lipsky’s trauma stewardship framework. Participants learn tools to navigate difficult situations and care for themselves as they care for others. To coordinate a training for your team, please contact Robin Clayton at robin712@uw.edu.
  
  
• Land acknowledgements online training – Interested in doing a land acknowledgement in a classroom or at an event? Watch this series of land acknowledgement trainings by Scott Pinkham.
  
  
• Supporting underserved students – The Pathway for Inclusive Excellence (PIE) now includes STARS, Startup, and the Allen School Startup under one umbrella. These three programs share one vision to provide underserved students opportunities and support.
