Isabella Kwan Bioengineering

About Me

Hi, I'm Isabella! I am a third-year from Bellevue, WA pursuing Bioengineering on the pre-med track and a music minor. My interests in healthcare and bioengineering have led me to pursue research at the Zheng and Rayner Lab where I study Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension using microfluidic devices. Outside of engineering, I am involved in the UW Women's Club Volleyball team and Global Medical and Dental Brigades (GMDB). I especially enjoyed the brigade that I went on last summer to Guatemala with GMDB as it was an eye-opening experience and allowed me to integrate my passions for health and medicine, traveling, and building connections with others. Sierra Kasl-Godley Environmental Engineering

About Me

Hi! My name is Sierra and I'm a third-year Environmental Engineering student. I'm from a small town called Castro Valley in the east San Francisco Bay Area, and have loved my time exploring the Pacific Northwest. When I'm not studying on the fourth floor of Suzzallo, I'm most likely outside, and have enjoyed taking classes that align with my love for the outdoors that aren't encompassed within engineering (my recommendation is ATMS 211!). As a lifelong space enthusiast, I love the community I've found in the UW League of Astronomers, spending time with people who are just as passionate about other planets as I am our own. I'm usually found with my very singular music taste on repeat, am always down to swap book recommendations, and have recently retraced my roots back to cross country running. I'm excited for the upcoming year, and look forward to meeting you all!

Glenn William Electrical and Computer Engineering

About Me

Hello Folks, My name is Glenn William, and you can call me Glenn. I use he/him/his pronouns. I am a fourth-year majoring in Electrical and Computer Engineering with a concentration in Embedded Systems. A little bit about myself: I'm an international student from Indonesia. After finishing high school in my home country, I attended community college in the Bay area before transferring to the University of Washington last autumn. So, I've just been here for less than a year. I enjoy everything about Seattle except the rain. In my free time, I enjoy playing badminton and going hiking. Fun fact about me is that I cannot eat spicy food, which is a little embarrassing because I originate from Indonesia, where the majority of the food is spicy (I'm the only one in my family that cannot eat spicy). Other than that, since this is my fourth-year, I spend lots of my free time by doing personal projects, practicing for interviews, etc. I am preparing myself to get into workforce once I graduated. If you're ever curious about engineering in general or want to learn more about Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) specifically, feel free to reach out to me! I’d be happy to chat and share what I know. Whether you’re exploring the field or just have some questions, I’m here to help.

Rhiannon Hayes-McQueen Human Centered Design & Engineering

About Me

My name is Rhiannon, I'm from West Seattle, and I'm a third year HCDE student. This is my second year as an Engineering Ambassador, and I am the Lead Ambassador this year. I've loved taking a wide variety of classes at UW, including non-engineering based classes (such as ASL). I had the incredible opportunity to study abroad in Rome during Early Fall Start (now College Edge) my freshman year. This was for a travel writing class. We explored churches, historical sites, beautiful gardens, and so much more. During this class I met some of my closest friends. During my freshman year I lived in Maple Hall (the Engineering Living Learning community). I now live with 7 housemates, 5 of whom I met on my floor in Maple. I loved living there and taking advantage of the lounge on our floor to cook, watch movies and shows, and play board games. Having a makerspace downstairs was also a lot of fun- I could 3D print things, use a laser cutter, and play mario kart anytime, for free. Most of my freetime is spent with my friends/housemates or my family. In an effort to relax outside of an academic setting, my friends and I have a dinner together every Wednesday called 'Waffle Wednesday'. This started in the Maple lounge and has continued in my off-campus house.

Over the past two summers, I have worked at Kiewit as a traffic engineering intern in their Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers district, having the opportunity to work on things such as traffic control plans, traffic simulations, and permanent guide signs, as well as visit the district's headquarters in Denver. My other activities include being a residential advisor for Maple Hall's engineering Living Learning Community (a name I appreciate as a Canadian engineering major) and being a photographer for UW's student-run newspaper, The Daily. Outside of school, I enjoy photography and walking to Gas Works Park. I look forward to returning as an EA this year!
