Ang Li joins Electrical & Computer Engineering in September as an assistant professor from Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD), where he researched chips and processors through an industry lens as a visiting scholar.

Li’s research interests include novel programming models/languages, system architectures, and open-source hardware. At the UW, he will lead the PN Computer Engineering Lab (PNCEL) where he applies this focus to innovative computing systems, semiconductor circuits, and emerging computing technologies. He has been a leading member in two multi-university teams who successfully completed the tapeout process for two silicon prototypes, finalizing and testing the design of chips through magnetic tape before sending them to production.
