John Palmore Jr. joined Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech where he was an assistant professor of mechanical engineering.

At the UW, Palmore researches computational strategies to simulate multiphase fluid flows. He leads the Combustion, Atomization, Multiphase & Particulate Physics Research & Education (CAMP-PhyRE) group at the UW which studies how multiphase fluid flows can solve problems in aviation, biomedicine, energy and the environment. He has received a number of awards, including the New Investigator Award from the Virginia Space Grant Consortium, and the Air Force Summer Faculty Fellowship. He is also the Chair-Elect of the APS Forum for Early Career Scientists. Palmore’s CAMP-PhyRE group has received research support from the Air Force, NASA, the US Army Corps of Engineers, and private industry.
