Research focus

Millimeter-wave and terahertz integrated circuit design

Education

Ph.D. Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Michigan, 2023
M.Sc. Electrical Engineering, University of Tehran, 2013
B.Sc. Electrical Engineering, Amirkabir University of Technology, 2009

Hossein Naghavi joins Electrical & Computer Engineering in September as an assistant professor. Naghavi received his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan and worked as a research scholar in their radiation lab, where he contributed to the development of the first fully integrated terahertz inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR imaging system).

Naghavi’s research focuses on the millimeter-wave and terahertz integrated circuit design, especially for imaging, spectroscopy, metrology and communication applications. He was the co-recipient of the best invited paper award at the 2019 IEEE Custom Integrated Circuits Conference for fully integrated solutions for high-resolution terahertz imaging and a lead contributor to a granted proposal with DARPA for developing traveling-wave energy enhancement devices (TWEED).
