The College of Engineering (COE) Computing Services currently seeks to hire an undergraduate student employee to join our help desk team. We support the computing environment of the COE Office of the Dean, several College of Engineering programs, and provide second-tier assistance for computing staff in several departments.

Our Student Techs provide front line contact and daily computer support for the Dean's Office. Additionally, they work with COE computing staff on projects that involve networking, hardware configuration, databases, and web development.

Basic Qualifications

  • Dedicated to providing excellent customer service and support
  • Independent, self starter with good problem solving skills
  • Ability to install and configure Windows workstations
  • Hardware installation experience (hard-drives, RAM, cards, etc)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products
  • E-mail and web server experience
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs

Helpful Experience

  • Macintosh support skills (MacOS X)
  • Networking experience (TCP/IP)
  • Database experience (Access, MySQL)
  • UNIX experience (FreeBSD and/or LINUX)

We are seeking students who can work between 12 and 19 ½ hours a week during the academic year.

Pay Rate: DOE
