Nominee eligibility
Nominee must be in an assistant professor rank and have a home department within the College of Engineering.
Nominee criteria
- Exemplify excellence in research and/or education through:
- Exemplary scholarship
- Extraordinary contributions and dedication
- New and innovative research and/or educational programs
- High level of commitment to students
- Enhancement of participation of under-represented groups
- Show that research results contribute to the expansion of knowledge or improvement of quality of life.
- Show evidence of making an impact to improve education.

Faculty Award: Research
Nominee eligibility
Any faculty member or postdoctoral scholar whose home department is within the College of Engineering.
Nominee criteria
- Exemplify excellence in scholarship and research through:
- Extraordinary contributions and dedication to research
- Support of diverse students in research
- Innovative approaches in research, scholarship or creative activities
- Have a record of research contributions with a wide impact.
- Be recognized externally and hold distinction as a scholar as demonstrated through awards, memberships in prestigious professional organizations, and/or invited lectures and papers.

Faculty Award: Teaching
Nominee eligibility
Any faculty member, teaching track faculty or instructor whose home department is within the College of Engineering is eligible to receive this award.
Nominee criteria
- Demonstrate outstanding contributions to engineering education through:
- Innovative and lasting contributions to engineering education, such as:
- Effective curriculum or teaching techniques
- Enhancement of participation of under-represented groups
- Connecting the educational experience with the professional practice of engineering
- High-level commitment to students both in and outside of the classroom
- Innovative and lasting contributions to engineering education, such as:
- Show evidence of improving education. For example: mentoring of junior faculty, leadership, educational scholarship, etc.

Student Award: Research

Nominee must have held a student level research position (for example, research assistant, predoctoral researcher, etc.) in the College of Engineering within the past 12 months.

Nominee should demonstrate merit in research through:
- Publications, external recognition, invited presentations, etc.
- Innovation and creativity

Student Award: Teaching
Nominee eligibility
Nominee must have held a student level teaching position (for example, teaching assistant, predoctoral lecturer, predoctoral instructor, etc.) in the College of Engineering within the past 12 months.
Nominee criteria
- Demonstrate exemplary teaching, through:
- Enthusiasm for the subject and ability to engage students
- Original and innovative approaches in the classroom
- Enhancement of participation of under-represented groups
- Work with professors to ensure that students’ needs, interests, and problems are addressed.

- Promoting positive morale

Staff Award: Professional
Nominee eligibility
Nominee must be a permanent professional staff member (including research engineers), employed at least six months in the College of Engineering.
Nominee criteria
Have significant impact on his/her department or the College of Engineering through:

- Resourcefulness
- Innovation and creativity
- Promoting positive morale

Team Award
Nominees eligibility
A permanent team or project team made up of employees whose home department is within the College of Engineering. The Team Award is open to any combination of College of Engineering students, staff, and faculty. Note: please make sure to include the names of all team members in the nomination. Additional names will not be accepted later.
Nominees criteria
Nominees should:
- Have significant impact on his/her department or the College of Engineering through:
- An extraordinary accomplishment, demonstrated by the completion of a special work project or activity during the last year.
- A superior, sustained effort that contributed significantly to the mission of one or more units within the College of Engineering.
- Have demonstrated, as a team, the College of Engineering values of innovation, collaboration, excellence, leadership, diversity, creativity, agility, and risk-taking.
